Happy 30th Anniversary to the people of Obanliku LGA of Cross River State.
Over the weekend, precisely on 27th August, the indigenes of Obanliku LGA of Cross River State, marked their 30th Anniversary as an LGA. As a way of showing her love for the people on this epoch event, the Chairman of the LGA, Hon. Evang. Margaret Inde, thought to empower farmers in the community with a hoe, cutlass and a tuber of yam each. This was her way of “empowering” the able-bodied farmers in the LGA, after 30 years of their inauguration as a LG.
30 years ago, this might have been pardoned, but 30 years later? This is a clear indication of the level of Hunger and Poverty that we are experiencing as a Nation.
Do we categorize this gesture of giving out hoe, cutlass and a tuber of yam as a “Present” or “Past”??
